Match Masters Game Modes: 46 Daily Modes & Modifiers

One of the key features that sets Match Masters apart from classic matching games is its competitive PvP structure. Because of this, winning a match is not just about choosing a powerful booster. Understanding the rules of each game mode, mastering the Daily Mode system, and properly reading active modifiers is just as important as making the right move on the board.
In some game modes, specific colors award bonus points, while others focus on bombs, crystals, mushrooms, or score multipliers. That means you must calculate not only your own move, but also consider the board state you leave for your opponent. Knowing the different Match Masters game modes makes it much easier to plan your moves and choose the right booster and perk combination for each match.
In this guide, we cover the studios unlocked along the Trophy Road, the Daily Mode system, modifier rules, and the core mechanics of each game mode. You will also find practical strategy tips to help you choose the most suitable booster and perk setup for different boards.
Even if you know which mode you want to play, understanding each booster’s strength makes it much easier to choose the right combination. For the latest power rankings of all Diamond, Legendary, and SE boosters, check out our Match Masters Booster Tier List.
Match Masters Game Modes: How They Work
Booster Charging: Your booster bar normally charges when you match blue pieces, but some game modes provide additional ways to gain energy. For example, reaching the bottom row with a treasure chest in Plunder Pirates charges your booster bar with extra energy. Certain special pieces and game mechanics can also help you build your booster faster. Understanding how your booster is charged in each mode helps you plan your turns and know when you can activate it again.
Every studio you unlock along the Trophy Road introduces its own scoring quirk — a color that suddenly matters more, a piece type that behaves differently, or a target that has nothing to do with color at all. A booster that dominates in one studio can sit completely idle in another. That’s why the sections below break down each studio’s core mechanic one by one before moving into booster and perk strategy.
Match Masters Game Modes: How to Unlock Each Studio
The Trophy Road is the main progression track in Match Masters. As you win PvP matches, you earn trophies that push you forward along this milestone path. Accumulating trophies progressively unlocks new game studios, unique board mechanics, free rewards like Match Masters sticker packs to complete your seasonal albums, and competitive leagues.
New studios unlock step by step, starting at 200 trophies with Jungle Jam up to Multiplier Mushrooms at 3,500 trophies. These stages help you become familiar with diverse board dynamics before entering higher-level competition.
Reaching 4,000 trophies is a major milestone in Match Masters. At this level, Master League begins and Daily Mode becomes available. In the current system, multiple PvP Daily Modes also unlock at this trophy threshold.
Beyond Master League lie Grand Master and Supreme Master. Once you reach Legends League at 30,000 trophies, the Change Mode feature unlocks, allowing you to switch between the available Daily Mode options.
- 4,000 Trophies – Master League: Unlocks Daily Mode and makes multiple PvP Daily Modes available.
- 10,000 Trophies – Grand Master: The next seasonal league tier.
- 20,000 Trophies – Supreme Master: The stepping-stone league on the way to Legends.
- 30,000 Trophies – Legends: Unlocks the Change Mode feature.
Master League
Unlocks Daily Mode: Grants daily access to rotating competitive PvP modes and unique studio rules.
Legends League
Unlocks Change Mode: Gives you the tactical freedom to swap between active Daily Mode options.
Keeping these two features distinct helps avoid confusion as you climb.

|---|---|---|
| 200 Trophies | Jungle Jam | Green leaves are worth 3 points each. |

| 2,500 Trophies | Hot Color | Once matched, a different color becomes the Hot Color. |
| 3,000 Trophies | Color Crystals | Crystals clear all pieces of the same color across the board. |
| 3,500 Trophies | Multiplier Mushrooms | Matching colored mushrooms increases the score multiplier. |
Match Masters Trophy Road Studios (0–3,500 Trophies)
The studios unlocked along the Trophy Road establish the foundation for understanding special piece dynamics and board mechanics:
Jungle Jam (200 Trophies)
Jungle Jam is the first special studio unlocked on the Trophy Road. In this studio, the green leaves on the board are worth 3 points each. Instead of simply settling for standard matches, try to collect multiple green leaves in the same move or through chain reactions whenever possible to increase your score.
Strategy & Selection Tip: Because green leaves award 3 points in Jungle Jam, boosters that increase the number of green pieces provide an advantage on suitable boards. Options like Crazy Clovers can be considered to create more green matching opportunities.
Dustville Duel (400 Trophies)
In Dustville Duel, matching Bandit pieces (or detonating them with perks and bombs) triggers a Bounty that clears random pieces across the board. This blast helps clear extra pieces for big points and can quickly charge your booster if your color pieces are caught in the blast.
Strategy & Selection Tip: Pairing Bandit activations with the Energy Boost perk turns every cleared piece into energy, allowing you to charge your booster in a single turn.
Funky Tiles (700 Trophies)
In this disco-themed mode, matching Funky pieces also clears the pieces around them. This mechanic clears 8 squares horizontally and vertically around the piece, allowing new pieces to drop and triggering consecutive chain reactions.
Strategy & Selection Tip: Making efficient use of the Funky piece’s blast area is key. Perks like the Hammer, which provide direct targeting, can also help activate a Funky piece that is blocked or difficult to reach.
Plunder Pirates (1,000 Trophies)
In Plunder Pirates, you must guide treasure chests down to the bottom row. When a chest reaches the bottom, your booster bar increases by 5 points in PvP matches and by 3 points in Solo modes.
Strategy & Selection Tip: When ending your turn, try not to leave a chest sitting on the row right above the bottom where your opponent can easily claim it. Dropping a chest on your own turn earns you vital energy while denying your opponent the same opportunity. For perk selection, Remove Cross can drop chests to the bottom in a single action to rapidly charge your booster. Boosters like Balloon Blast can also be evaluated on boards where chest-dropping and area clearing work together.
Bombs Away (1,300 Trophies)
In Bombs Away, fresh bombs drop onto the board whenever the grid is refreshed. Tracking bomb placements and calculating potential chain reactions is essential for putting up high scores in this mode.
Strategy & Selection Tip: Pay attention to the number and placement of bombs, aiming to trigger as many secondary chain explosions as possible from a single move. Alongside wide-clearing boosters, perks like Hammer and Remove Cross can create stronger scoring opportunities when used in precise positions next to clustered bombs.
Candy World (1,600 Trophies)
This candy-themed studio features dual-colored Jelly Bean pieces. Because they match with both Blue pieces (your booster energy) and Red pieces (opponent’s booster energy), they make finding booster energy much easier across the board.
Strategy & Selection Tip: Because Jelly Beans act as wildcards, energy matches appear much more frequently across the grid. This makes it easier to charge high-cost boosters and cycle their abilities multiple times throughout the match.
Gem Grab (2,000 Trophies)
In Gem Grab, special purple Gem pieces appear on the board with numeric point badges. Crucially, every Gem cleared permanently increases the point value of future Gems across the match. While early Gems award minimal points, in longer matches between strong boosters, Gem values can climb to +20, +30, and even +50+ per piece.
Because both players share the board and the escalation counter, clearing early Gems can easily set up high-value matches for your opponent. If an upgraded high-value Gem is sitting on the board and you cannot harvest it on your turn, actively disrupt the surrounding purple pieces or use perks to deny your opponent an easy payout.
Strategy & Selection Tip: Prioritize cloning Gems once their values climb high. The Mini Cleo perk is the most consistent option here because it lets you pick your highest-value Gem directly and spawn extra copies across the board. If playing with Cleo Cadabra, its Scarabs drop on random tiles; however, swapping a Scarab with an adjacent upgraded Gem scatters multiple copies of that Gem across the grid for a massive point surge. Always keep a Hammer ready to collect isolated high-value Gems before your opponent can reach them.
Hot Color (2,500 Trophies)
In Hot Color, one designated Hot Color awards higher points than the others. When you match this color, the active Hot Color shifts to a different color. Because of this, checking which color is currently valuable before making your move is essential.
Strategy & Selection Tip: Boosters that change colors or create multiple pieces of the same color can help you take advantage of the Hot Color. However, your primary focus should always be evaluating the active color alongside its distribution on the board.
Color Crystals (3,000 Trophies)
Color Crystals features special colored crystals. When you match a crystal with its own color, it clears all other pieces of that color across the entire board. The position of the crystal and the number of matching pieces on the board dictate the value of the move.
Strategy & Selection Tip: Perks that provide direct targeting and line clearing, such as Hammer and Remove Cross, can free a trapped crystal or bring more pieces of the same color into the blast area.
Multiplier Mushrooms (3,500 Trophies)
In Multiplier Mushrooms, matching colored mushrooms increases your score multiplier. As the multiplier climbs, the value of your subsequent high-scoring moves rises significantly. Therefore, mushroom matches should be viewed not just as immediate points, but as opportunities that multiply the score of your future moves.
Strategy & Selection Tip: Options like Mini Cleo that generate extra special pieces can spawn additional mushrooms on suitable boards. Boosters like Brocco Boogie, which clear specific colors from the board, become exceptionally effective once your multiplier is raised.
Match Masters League System & Progression (4,000+ Trophies)
Once you hit 4,000 trophies, Master League begins and Match Masters’ seasonal league format takes effect. From this point forward, progression is not just about collecting trophies—it is about climbing the 10 ranks within your league tier.
Each league consists of 10 ranks. Players who reach Rank 10 at the end of the season advance to the next league. Your highest rank achieved before the season concludes determines your placement for the following season. In Supreme Legends and Ultimate Legends, falling to certain lower ranks can result in demotion back to the previous league.
| League | Starting Trophies | Next League |
|---|---|---|
| Master | 4,000 | Grand Master |
| Grand Master | 10,000 | Supreme Master |
| Supreme Master | 20,000 | Legends |
| Legends | 30,000 | Supreme Legends |
| Supreme Legends | 40,000 | Ultimate Legends |
| Ultimate Legends | 90,000 | — |
Note: Trophy milestones indicate the starting points of each league. Seasonal promotion or demotion is determined by your rank performance.
Match Masters Daily Mode: Rules and Rotation System
Daily Mode is a rotating daily game mode system that introduces rules and mechanics different from classic Match Masters play. You will encounter different combinations of rules and modifiers each day. According to official game rules, a single Daily Mode match can feature up to three modifiers at the same time.

Daily Mode unlocks once you reach Master League. Change Mode becomes available once you reach Legends League, allowing you to swap between multiple Daily Mode choices.
Match Masters Daily Mode List (All 46 Modes)
The directory below contains the primary modes currently featured in the Daily Mode rotation and their core mechanics. Because Match Masters receives continuous balance updates, mode availability and rules can adjust over time.
5 Colors
Only five different colors appear on the board. Having fewer colors can increase the number of matching and special-piece creation opportunities.
Anti Gravity
Gravity works in reverse in this mode; pieces move upward from the bottom of the board. This means you need to calculate chain reactions and piece movements in reverse compared to normal gameplay.
Arcade Man
The match you make creates an additional blast effect in its row or column. This can give you the opportunity to clear a large area with a single move.
Best Turn Wins
Instead of your total score, only your highest-scoring turn counts at the end of the match. For this reason, it is more valuable to plan your booster and special-piece usage around creating the strongest possible single turn.
Blow ‘Em Up
The special pieces you create explode automatically without waiting on the board. Therefore, creating special pieces can help you trigger reactions one after another in a short period of time.
Bombs Away (Daily Mode)
This is the Daily Mode version of the Bombs Away mechanic found on the Trophy Road. Your strategy should adapt to the rules created by the bombs and the active modifiers working together.
Bullseye Bash
A Bullseye target is added to the board and its point value increases after every move. Instead of collecting the target immediately, it can sometimes be more profitable to wait until its value rises and then take it with an effective move.
Candy World (Daily Mode)
Jelly Bean pieces can match with both red and blue pieces. These wildcard pieces create additional opportunities for matches that would normally be impossible.
Color Climb
Two specific colors increase your score multiplier. So it’s worth watching not only the normal score but also how matching these two colors can increase your multiplier.
Color Crush
A 3-match in one color can also destroy other pieces of the same color on the board. Red and blue energy pieces are excluded from this rule.
Color Crystals (Daily Mode)
When colored crystals are matched with their own color, they destroy pieces of the same color. This can create opportunities for large-area chain reactions.
Column Mania
Every match increases the multiplier of the relevant column. This makes it worth tracking possible matches in columns that already have a high multiplier, since matching there can be more valuable than making an ordinary match elsewhere.
Crazy Columns
Each column has a different score multiplier. As a result, not only which tile you match matters, but also which column the match takes place in.
Drillin’ Down
Matches also destroy the pieces located directly beneath them. This feature can be especially useful for clearing lower sections of the board.
Dustville Duel (Daily Mode)
Bandit pieces are activated by matching them with tiles of the same color on the board. Activated Bandit pieces randomly clear tiles from the board.
Energized
Two random colors charge your booster bar in this mode. When one of these selected colors is matched on the board, the energy-generating colors immediately change. Therefore, keeping track of the active colors shown in the indicator before every move is essential.
Extra Moves
Matching special X pieces grants extra moves. Turning these extra moves into a chain can help you create longer combos.
Fireworks Festival
When fireworks pieces are matched, they travel in different directions and clear the areas they hit. This means a single match can create unexpected chains.
Frozen Feud
You need to clear frozen pieces by matching them. Therefore, it is important to look for suitable matches in areas containing ice. Matches around the ice become especially important.
Funky Tiles (Daily Mode)
Matching Funky pieces also explodes their neighbors, creating additional clearing and chain-reaction opportunities.
Gem Grab (Daily Mode)
Gems spawn as purple pieces with numeric point badges that escalate in value as matches are made. Prioritize purple matches, snipe late-game high-value Gems, and avoid leaving upgraded Gems for your opponent.
Hot Color (Daily Mode)
When the high-scoring hot color is matched, the active color changes. You should check the current color shown in the indicator before every move.
Jungle Jam (Daily Mode)
Green leaves are worth 3 points. When green pieces create more matching opportunities, it is important to make the best possible use of these extra points.
Knockout (Daily Mode)
Your score deals damage to your opponent’s health bar. Therefore, producing as many points as possible in a single move is important.
Laser Matches
Matches clear pieces along the path with a laser effect and can continue until reaching another piece of the same color. This can create an opportunity to clear a large area with a single move.
Lights Up
Matches made in a special column increase the score multiplier, and this column may change after each move or round. It is important to check where the active column is before making a move.
Match & Hatch
In Match & Hatch, every extra move you earn creates a random special piece on the board. These pieces are not limited to standard board pieces; booster pieces and other special board pieces can also be created.
Therefore, chaining extra moves together can give you more than just additional turns. It can also create powerful special pieces on the board.
Mighty Mushrooms
Mushrooms of different colors provide different multiplier values. Tracking mushrooms that offer higher values can give you an opportunity to increase your score.
Moves Multiplier
The score multiplier increases with every move and resets at the end of the round in multi-round matches. Saving large explosions for higher multiplier levels can produce more points.
Multiplier Madness
Matching purple pieces increases your score multiplier. These pieces therefore become one of the main targets for building a high multiplier.
Multiplier Mushrooms (Daily Mode)
Collecting colored mushrooms increases the score multiplier. Keep an eye on mushroom opportunities that can create a higher multiplier.
Mutation Lab (Daily Mode)
Mutations change the rules of the match. Always check what the active mutations do before starting the match.
Party (Daily Mode)
Party is one of the options that can appear in the Daily Mode rotation. When it’s active, the match becomes a fast-paced, ranked mini-event: finishing in the green zone (the top 50%) lets you keep your booster, so quick decisions matter more than usual. It unlocks at Supreme Legends or Ultimate Legends.
Plunder Pirates (Daily Mode)
Bring treasure chests down to the bottom row to charge your booster bar. Since you can gain 5 energy in PvP and 3 in Solo, preventing your opponent from taking a chest is an important strategic advantage.
Rainbow
Different colors have different point values. So you’ll want to track which color currently provides the highest value.
Rounds Multiplier
The score multiplier increases as the rounds progress. Combining large scoring moves with higher-multiplier rounds can be more effective.
Score Market
The longer a color remains unmatched, the higher its point value becomes. That’s why it pays to time your matches to the colors whose values have climbed the most.
Showdown (Daily Mode)
In Showdown, two players play independently on the same starting board. Your opponent’s moves do not affect your board; the objective is to achieve a higher score within the same amount of time.
Square Match
Matching four pieces in a 2×2 square gives you an extra move and a crosshair that can hit a target piece. These opportunities should be used especially when the relevant mode or modifier is active.
Super Sized
A larger-than-normal game board is used. The larger area offers more matching opportunities, but it can also make the board harder to track.
The Floor Is Lava
Matching twice in the same column causes that column to disappear. Therefore, it is important to keep track of which columns you have matched in.
Vegas Views
Moves made in highlighted areas score 3x points. Combining large combos with these areas can therefore create opportunities for very high scores.
Vertical Rush
Vertical matches increase your score multiplier, while horizontal matches can reset the multiplier. Therefore, at high multiplier levels, you should focus on vertical matches whenever possible.
Win by Rounds
Each round is evaluated separately, and the player who wins more rounds wins the match. Once you have secured enough of a lead to win a round, it can make sense to save unnecessary booster spending for later rounds.
Zany Zappers
When Zapper counters are reset through suitable matches, an electric attack is triggered, clearing pieces along horizontal or vertical lines.
Moves Extravaganza
Matching X pieces grants extra moves. Chaining these extra moves can help create longer combos and give you more opportunities to generate special pieces on the board.
Match Masters Modifiers: How Rule Changers Work
A modifier is a rule changer that alters the basic rules of your match or adds an additional gameplay rule. Modifiers can be used not only in Daily Mode but also in tournaments and different events.
A match can have up to three modifiers at the same time. Therefore, it is not enough to look only at the name of the game mode; you should also check the active modifiers before the match starts.
Match Masters Modifier List (All 31 Modifiers)
4 Rounds
The match consists of four rounds instead of the standard format.
5 Rounds
The match consists of five rounds, requiring a longer-term game plan and booster management.
5 Colors
Only five colors appear on the board. Having fewer colors can make matching and special-piece creation easier.
7 Colors
White pieces are added to the board, increasing the total number of colors to seven. This can make it harder to find suitable matches.
Anti Gravity
Pieces move from the bottom toward the top, so your board-reading direction is reversed.
Any Move
You can swap two pieces without being required to create a match, allowing you to prepare the board for the combination you want.
Blow ‘Em Up
Created special pieces explode automatically without waiting on the board.
Boosted
Each booster activation costs one less star than normal. This allows you to use your booster at a lower cost.
Color Crystals
When crystals are matched with their own colors, they clear pieces of that color.
Gimme Greens
Green pieces are worth 5 points. This rule should not be confused with the 3-point green leaf mechanic in Jungle Jam.
Knockout
Your score deals damage to your opponent’s health bar.
Lightning Strike
Special matches can create additional Lightning pieces.
Limited Activations
Booster usage is limited to two activations per round. Therefore, booster usage needs to be planned in advance.
Monkey Joojoo’s Skulls
Skulls move across the board and clear the pieces they come into contact with.
Mushrooms
Matching colored mushrooms increases the score multiplier.
Perk Reload
Perks you have used become available again at the beginning of the next round.
Rainbow
Each color has a different point value.
Rainbow Energy
Different colors charge the booster bar by different amounts; red and blue pieces are excluded from this rule.
Ramp Up
Each time you use your booster, the energy required for the next activation increases.
Red Alert
Matching red pieces can charge your opponent’s booster bar. Therefore, uncontrolled red explosions can give your opponent an advantage.
Shared Energy
Red and blue pieces charge your booster bar, allowing energy to build up faster.
Special O Rama
Every match creates a special piece, making ordinary matches much more valuable than in standard gameplay.
Sprint
Three rounds are played, with two moves available in each round. Therefore, every move must be used carefully.
Square Match
Matching four pieces in a 2×2 square can create an extra move and a crosshair piece.
Super Sized
A larger game board than the standard layout is used.
Super Sprint
Two rounds are played with two moves in each round. In addition, booster energy costs are reduced by half.
Triple Sprint
Two rounds are played, with three moves available in each round.
Tricky Triples
This is a short format with three rounds and three moves per round.
Vinnie Valentine’s Hearts
Matching colored hearts gives you the opportunity to clear other pieces of the same color.
Yummy Yellows
Only yellow pieces score points. As a result, other colors are mainly used to prepare the board and create space for yellow matches.
Zany Zappers
When Zapper counters reach zero, an electric attack is triggered that clears horizontal and vertical lines.
Game Mode vs. Modifier: Key Differences Explained
In the simplest terms, the game mode determines the core gameplay rule of the match. A modifier is an additional rule added to that gameplay or a rule that changes an existing mechanic. Modifiers can be used in Daily Mode, tournaments, and different events.
Therefore, the same game mode may require a different strategy depending on the modifier combination. Before the match starts, checking the active modifiers in the information area on the game screen makes it easier to decide which booster and perk are the best fit.
Special Events and Game Formats in Match Masters
In addition to Daily Mode and Trophy Road studios, Match Masters also offers events and special game formats with different rules. These features can be updated from time to time, so the explanations below are based on the core structure found in the current official game rules.
Play Mode
Play Mode is the classic way to play Match Masters. You enter normal matches and compete in the studios you unlock as you progress. Daily Mode is a separate daily gameplay option.
Knockout
In Knockout, the points you score deal damage to your opponent’s health bar. The first player to reduce the opponent’s health to zero wins. Therefore, producing as much score as possible in a single move is important.
Party
Party — sometimes labeled Party Rumble — is a fast-paced multiplayer format where special rules, modifiers, and multiplayer dynamics shake up the standard match-3 flow. It isn’t tied to one single slot: it can show up as a Daily Mode option on a given day, or run on its own as a limited-time special event. Either way, the core rule stays the same — finish in the green zone (the top 50%) to keep your booster, and remember the timer keeps running during animations, so fast decisions matter.
Showdown
In Showdown, two players play independently on the same starting board. Your opponent’s moves do not affect your board; the goal is to achieve a higher score within the same amount of time.
Match Rumble
In Match Rumble, multiple players compete at the same time. At the end of each round, you are eliminated if you fall into the red zone, while you continue if you remain in the green zone. Since the timer can continue during booster animations, quick decision-making is important.
Score Rally
Score Rally is a solo event where you progress through a checkpoint path. You start with a set number of moves, and reaching each score threshold refills your moves and moves you closer to the final reward.
Tournaments
Tournaments are held with special rules, modifiers, and entry requirements. Once you enter a tournament, you continue with the same booster and perk selections, so you should choose them carefully before entering.
Booster Clash
Booster Clash is a special event where you can win your opponent’s booster. Players with the same booster level are matched against each other. Trophies are not awarded during the event, and Booster Shield cannot be used. Booster Clash unlocks in Legends League and is available only on Saturdays.
Adventure Mode
Adventure Mode is a solo format where you progress by winning matches across different stages. You have a limited number of lives; losing a match can affect your life count and booster. The goal is to reach the end of the path and progress toward the major reward.
Private Events
Private Events allow you to create custom matches with friends or fellow Match Masters team members and invite players through an invitation link or game code. In the current system, you can create private Tournament, Booster Clash, and Match Rumble events.
Note: Match Masters live streams sometimes feature Private Events. You can play in these events while they are live.
Best Booster and Perk Combos for Each Game Mode
In Match Masters, there is no single “best booster” that wins every match. A better approach is to choose a booster and perk combination that fits the rules of the current mode and active modifiers.
When Should You Use Energy Boost?
Energy Boost can be useful when you want to activate your booster faster. However, it is better to choose the perk according to the game mode and the opportunities available on the board. In game modes such as Dustville Duel, Funky Tiles, and Bombs Away, where a single match can clear many pieces from the board, it can provide an early advantage.
For a detailed look at which perk can provide the highest value on different boards, check out our Best Match Masters Perks guide.
When Does Hammer Provide an Advantage?
Hammer lets you directly target a single piece on the board, making it especially useful when one specific piece needs to be cleared or activated. For example, if a treasure chest has a piece blocking it from reaching the bottom row, Hammer can remove that piece and allow the chest to drop all the way down. It can also be used to activate bombs or special pieces such as Bandit pieces, Funky Tiles, and crystals when you cannot trigger them with a normal match. This makes Hammer a versatile perk whenever one specific piece is preventing you from making the move you want.
Which Modes Benefit from Remove Cross?
Remove Cross clears the row and column containing the selected piece. It can be especially effective when you need to bring down a chest or reach a difficult target.
When Should You Use Detonator?
Detonator is an option focused on triggering special pieces on the board at the same time. Its value increases when many special pieces have accumulated, but its advantage decreases under rules where special pieces already explode automatically.
Why Is Mini Cleo Strong in Some Modes?
Mini Cleo causes new pieces of the same type as the selected piece to appear on the board. This makes it useful on boards where special pieces such as mushrooms or crystals are valuable.
Which Boosters Make More Sense in Certain Modes?
The following recommendations are practical approaches that match booster abilities with the mechanics of specific modes:
Jungle Jam: Boosters that increase the number of green pieces, such as Crazy Clovers, can provide more value from the mode’s 3-point green leaf mechanic compared with other Diamond options.
Gem Grab: Boosters with purple synergy or cascading piece duplication—especially Cleo Cadabra—excel here by duplicating high-value purple Gems and collecting them without wasting moves.
Hot Color: Boosters that change colors or flood the board with a single color help you capitalize whenever the high-scoring Hot Color shifts to a new color.
Multiplier Mushrooms / Mighty Mushrooms: Options such as Cleo Cadabra and Mini Cleo that can synergize with mushrooms can create more multiplier opportunities on suitable boards. Boosters such as Brocco Boogie, which clear specific colors, can also be useful at high multiplier levels.
Bombs Away: Boosters with large-area clearing effects can be considered for creating chain explosions together with bombs. The goal is not simply to trigger the bomb but to maximize the chain that follows the explosion.
Best Turn Wins: Using boosters with the potential to produce a high score within a single turn at the right moment can be more valuable than using options with more consistent but lower burst potential.
5 Colors: Since the number of colors is reduced, special-piece creation opportunities may increase. Boosters that clear large areas and extend combos can therefore provide an advantage.
Match Masters Special Pieces and Combo Rules
No matter which mode you play, special pieces used at the right time are at the core of high scores and comebacks:
Created by matching 4 pieces of the same color in a straight line. When activated, it clears the row or column it is in.
Created by combining 5 pieces in a T or L shape and clears the surrounding area.
Created with 5 in a straight line. Strikes and randomly eliminates multiple pieces.
Combining four pieces in a 2×2 square gives you an extra move and a crosshair piece; this rule applies when the relevant mode or modifier is active.
Combining Special Pieces (Combo): Combining two special pieces next to each other creates a stronger effect than using them separately. A special-piece combination that works well with the mode’s rules can create major opportunities for high scores and powerful chain reactions.
Match Masters Strategy: 10 Tips to Win More Matches
1. Do Not Make the First Match You See
Playing quickly is one thing; tapping every match you see without thinking is another. Especially in Daily Mode, taking a few seconds to inspect the board can often give you an advantage by helping you avoid missing special pieces, targets, or extra-move opportunities.
2. Keep an Eye on Your Opponent’s Booster Bar
Especially under rules that allow your opponent to gain energy, do not focus only on your own booster bar. If your opponent is close to fully charging their booster, consider alternative moves instead of making matches that benefit them simply for short-term points.
3. Do Not Spend a High Multiplier Immediately
In multiplier-based modes such as Mushrooms or Vertical Rush, do not waste a high multiplier on a low-value move. Whenever possible, combine the multiplier with a powerful booster or a special-piece explosion.
4. Turn Extra-Move Opportunities into Chains
When you gain extra moves, do not think of them as simply one additional turn. If one extra move can create another opportunity, planning your moves as a chain can help you maintain control of the match.
5. Account for Animations in Timed Modes
In time-limited modes such as Party and Match Rumble, the timer can continue during booster and piece animations. When time is running out, making fast and clear moves can be safer than relying on long animations and complicated combos.
6. Do Not Use Your Booster the Moment It Is Ready
You do not have to use your booster as soon as it is charged. If the board is not yet in a position where you can take full advantage of your booster’s ability, preparing the board with another move first and then using the booster can create a higher-scoring opportunity.
7. Do Not Leave the Chest for Your Opponent in Plunder Pirates
If you cannot bring the chest down during your turn, try not to leave it in a position where your opponent can use the same opportunity to gain energy. Since the chest can provide an energy advantage in PvP, this small detail can affect the course of the match.
8. Be Careful Under the Red Alert Rule
When Red Alert is active, matching red pieces can contribute to your opponent’s booster bar. Therefore, before using uncontrolled red explosions simply for immediate points, also consider the energy advantage you may be giving your opponent.
9. Read the Modifier Before the Match
Before the match starts, check the active modifiers in the information area on the game screen. This brief check can help you plan your strategy in advance for Limited Activations, Red Alert, or other special rules.
10. Track and Steal Upgraded Purple Gems in Gem Grab
In Gem Grab, never treat the board like a standard color-matching arena. Scan for the highest-value purple Gems on the board. If your opponent matches gems early on, they are doing the groundwork to inflate the counter for you. Use tools like Hammer or Remove Cross to snipe isolated high-tier Gems immediately. Most importantly: before ending your turn, ensure you do not leave an easy purple 3-match containing a high-value Gem for your opponent.

How many modifiers can be active in a Daily Mode match?
According to the official game rules, a single Daily Mode match can have up to 3 active modifiers at the same time.
What does Change Mode do and how do you unlock it?
Change Mode allows you to switch between the Daily Mode options available that day. It automatically unlocks when you reach Legends League at 30,000 trophies.
What is the difference between a game mode and a modifier?
The game mode determines the core mechanics and objective of the match. A modifier adds rules to that core gameplay, such as reducing the number of rounds or giving a bonus to a single color. Multiple modifiers can be active in a single game mode.
What is the best game mode and booster in Match Masters?
There is no single best booster. For example, boosters that synergize with green pieces may be more suitable in Jungle Jam, while boosters that support mushroom generation or multiplier usage may be more effective in mushroom-focused modes.
Conclusion
The longer you play Match Masters, the clearer it becomes why game modes and their rules are so important. The studios unlocked through trophies help you develop your core gameplay skills, while Daily Mode and the Modifier system can add a different strategic layer every day.
Therefore, if you want to build a winning streak and activate your Match Masters On Fire Status, do not focus only on making fast matches. First look at which game mode you are playing, then check which modifiers are active, and finally consider which booster and perk combination works best with those rules.
Especially in modes such as Jungle Jam, Gem Grab, Hot Color, and Multiplier Mushrooms, correctly understanding a small rule detail can have a major impact on your score. Once you learn to read the logic of each mode, you can increase your chances of winning even when your opponent is using a stronger booster by combining better timing with the right strategy.
